Hello WestHills Church Family!
These are strange times. I know we all have hoped for better. But, for the good of our church, family and community, we continue to join a majority of churches in Georgia by moving our worship services online. A new development is that both Douglas and Carroll counties joining with many other counties in the state have issued a Shelter In Place order that reads, “All public gatherings, including indoor church services are banned, and residents are being asked not to leave their home for non-essential reasons under the order, which is enforceable by city and county governments.” As a result of those restrictions, our plan is to provide an online teaching from our homes this Sunday and next at 10:30am on Facebook live and we will see where things go from there. Currently I am still quarantined symptom-free and in a location with very poor cell signal. Marty will teach this week out of the book of Amos and I will preach the following Sunday. Thank you to our entire team working so very hard to stay in touch and keep all of us connected moving forward. If you have a child in our preschool or children’s ministry you should also be receiving teaching content weekly. If you are not receiving that content please let me know by replying to this e-mail.
One of the real challenges churches will face is the potential decline in giving. Some people will withhold their weekly giving out of fear. Others will simply forget because they are not reminded on Sunday. I hope you’ll stay the course of your faithful generosity so that we can move forward together bringing light into the darkness. Because of limitations of being in the office, online giving is the most helpful method to give currently. Just go to www.westhillschurch.org.
Likewise, if you or someone you know finds yourself in need during this time, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your church for help. I encourage you to start with your home group leader and of course your pastors will also be available to serve you, as always.
I am reminded of Jesus’ final teaching to his disciples, “I have told you these things so that in ME you might have peace. In this world you will face trouble but take heart I have overcome the world.”
Our hope is in Christ! Praying fervently for you and the world!
